Color tells you how many affixes a piece can have, but not the whole story.

Eight rarities
Normal has no affixes. Uncommon has 1, Rare 2, Epic 3, Legendary 4, Mythic 5, Divine 6 and Transcendent 7. The last three come only from drops and each is harder to find. Food, ingredients, rings and amulets also have these rarities but no affixes. Accessories gain duration or charges: ×1 / ×1.5 / ×2 / ×3 / ×5 / ×8 / ×12 / ×20.
Affixes can favor different builds
A rare piece with useful bonuses can be more valuable to your build than an epic piece with less relevant attributes. Check vocation, requirements, damage type and every line’s value. “Rarer” does not mean “better in every situation”.
Price and chance by variant
Equipment has resale values by rarity. The wiki separates NPC price and variant drop chance. Player-market prices are freely chosen offers, not an official price list. Evaluate refinement and affixes before accepting a trade.
Try it in the build planner
Put together equipment, affixes and a spell bar and see the damage with the game's formulas.
